Yorkton This Week

Anne Statchuk, beloved wife of the late Robert Statchuk, passed away at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on January 23, 2017, at the age of 84 years. Anne was born on April 2, 1932 to Teofil and Molly (Polichuk) Kucy in Welland, ON.

Mr. Paul Holowka, beloved husband of the late Anne Holowka, entered eternal rest at the age of 93 years. Paul was a resident at St Paul's Lutheran Home in Melville.

Morley Clarence Patrick Fisher, beloved husband of Ethel of Yorkton, passed away at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on January 19, 2017 after a short struggle with progressive cancer.

The Giant Mine, near Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, became infamous in 1992 when, during a labour dispute, a bombing killed nine replacement workers. As horrible as that historic event was, the worse legacy of Giant is ongoing.
