Yorkton This Week

Four times was the charm in terms of Yorkton Council finally passing a newly revised Traffic Bylaw. The bylaw which received first reading Nov. 21, 2016, was back before Council Dec. 12, and again Jan.

The City of Yorkton is hoping to receive funding on two major projects under two different infrastructure programs.

An old mobile home far in rental arrears to the City will soon be demolished to allow for the pad to be rented again. “The City of Yorkton owns and operates the Mobile Home Park in the southeast corner of the City, north of King Street.

Joan Vivian Malainey passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning, January 15, 2017 in Regina General Hospital surrounded by her family. Joan was born to Alex and Alma Fromm in the Runnymede district on May 25, 1944.

Donna Margaret Fustey (nee Liebrecht) of Calder, SK lost her courageous battle with cancer on January 23, 2017 at Pasqua Hospital in Regina, SK. She was 73 years of age.

Ethel "Jean" Heinrich was born on August 23, 1941 in Saltcoats, SK and passed away on January 20, 2017 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, Yorkton, SK. She was 75 years of age. Jean was the daughter of Sydney and Louisa (nee Maddaford) Oliver.

Bryan Herbert Cross was born October 8, 1972 in Calgary, AB and left this earth on December 6, 2016 at the age of 44 years.

It is with heavy hearts we mourn the peaceful passing of Maureen Elliott (nee Debnam) on January 17, 2017 at the Regina General Hospital, Regina, SK.

Donna Rae Gorecki was born on a Sunday morning July 22, 1962 to Norma & Norman Lutcher and passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord Jesus on Sunday, January 22, 2017.

Barb Schermann of Esterhazy, SK passed away on January 14, 2017 at Saskatoon at the age of 60 years. Barb was born in Biggar, SK in 1956. She was the second daughter of Bernie and Yvonne Schermann, followed by 4 more daughters.
