Yorkton This Week

The Yorkton Terriers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League played three games in the past week. Two of which were on the road as they traveled to Macklin on Thursday, Dec.

Yorkton is on its way to being named the SnoRiders SledTown Showdown Champion for the second year in a row. SnoRiders magazine is a snowmobiling magazine based in Western Canada.

On Tuesday, Dec. 6, Yorkton Minor Football hosted its awards banquet at Yorkton Regional High School. The banquet recognized athletes from the peewee, junior and senior football teams.

The Yorkton RawTec Maulers of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League hosted two home games this past weekend – a series against the Battlefords Stars.

The Yorkton Xerox Terriers of the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League are currently sitting in first place in their division, which is the South Division of the league. Out of eleven teams, Yorkton sits in first with a record of 12-2-2.

Rural Saskatchewan might be unnerved to know that the bureaucrat who once had a key role in the closure of 52 rural hospitals is now providing recommendations on the future of rural schools. But there is less reason to worry here than one may think.

A youth has pleaded guilty in a gunfire incident that occurred last week. On December 5, residents of First Avenue North near York Road reported shots being fired at approximately 10:30 in the evening.

Yorkton police are looking for several suspects in an attempted home invasion allegedly perpetrated December 5 at approximately 10:30 p.m.

From Dec. 2-4, the Yorkton Atom A hockey teams hosted a tournament at home. Games were split between the Farrell Agencies Arena and the Yorkton Kinsmen Arena.
