Yorkton This Week

It was a successful, sunny day of cross-country running on Friday when the Saltcoats School held their 32nd annual Autumn Summit. The event took place at Saltcoats Regional Park and saw a total of 1,001 runners compete.

Dear Editor: Regarding last week’s article by Thom Barker (“Showdown Brewing in Orkney,” Yorkton This Week, September 28, 2016), Dale and Gord Rhinas were not hand picked to run in the last election.

Carbon pollution, and what should be the approach by a country like ours to deal with it, is at best a contentious issue. At worst it is massively divisive. The issue, of course, is what impact greenhouse gases are having on our world.

The Yorkton Public Library is open at 9 a.m. Monday-Friday. --- The Yorkton and District Horticultural Society will be holding their next regular meeting on Wed., Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. at SIGN on North Street.

Mr. Kenneth Hilderman of Yorkton, formerly of Rhein, beloved husband of Rita Hilderman, passed away peacefully on September 24 at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home.

John Anthony Leslie Kurucz passed away peacefully on September 24, 2016 at the Langenburg Centennial Care Home with his daughters by his side. John was born January 13, 1921 in the Cana District to parents Mike and Rose (nee Kormos) Kurucz.

Tyler Patrick Dobko, beloved son of Patrick and Michelle Dobko (nee Dunlop) passed away suddenly and tragically on Saturday, September 24, 2016. He was 29 years of age. Tyler was born at the Yorkton Union Hospital on May 20, 1987.

Yvette Yacyshyn was born on February 11, 1962 at Kamsack, SK; a daughter of Lena (nee Marchuk) and Tom Yacyshyn. She grew up in Pelly until the age of five, then moved to Churchbridge, where she attended elementary school.

Jordan Trey Liebrecht - Stoll. October 20, 1998 - September 24, 2016. Jordan Trey Liebrecht Stoll was taken from us unexpectedly on September 24, 2016 at the age of 17.
