Yorkton This Week

For the past four years, the Yorkton Filipino community have shared their love of basketball with the rest of the city through the outlet known as the Parkland Basketball Association (PBA).

The Yorkton Cardinals have signed a new head coach for the 2016 summer season. Omaha, Nebraska, native Bryn Biancalana will be the new bench boss for the Cardinals this season, taking over for former Cardinal player and coach Kameron Mizzell.

Things didn’t seem to be too promising for California-based football coach John Bankhead and his team of football coaches as they pulled into Yorkton for the first time on Friday.

What a difference a decade makes. Ten years ago Yorkton Minor Football (YMF) was in its infancy stage, struggling to draw in youth players and having a hard time providing basic equipment and quality coaching.

Yorkton This Week and the News Review have both won awards in the SWNA Better Newspaper Competition. Yorkton This Week took second in Best Overall Newspaper, circulation 2,000 to 3,499.
