Yorkton This Week

Sid Lyzun, beloved husband of Josephine, entered eternal rest March 16, 2012, age 76, at the Yorkton & District Nursing home where he was a resident since March 12, 2009.

Part One in this series described the audacity of a group of volunteers ready to take on the daunting task of organizing the first film festival to be held in North America.

A city like Yorkton becomes a community thanks to the efforts of volunteers. So it was a good thing when at their regular meeting Monday Yorkton Council unanimously declared National Volunteer Week in the city.

The week of May 7th to May 12th be declared Spring Clean Up week with landfill entrance fees at the Sanitary Landfill waived for residents and schools of the City of Yorkton.

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Frances Matild Dawe (nee Buxton) on February 22, 2012 just a few days short of her 94th birthday. Frances was born in Zeneta, SK. on March 2, 1918.
