As the final days of the calendar quickly pass by maybe now would be a good time to look back at some of the best and worst deals made over the course of the past 12 months as I put together my newsprint version of SportCentre's Year in Review.

It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Madeline (nee Chamberlain) Blommaert announce her passing on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, with her family by her side. Dorothy was born in her family home in Bryant, SK on October 10, 1921.

Yorkton Saskatchewan Party MLA Greg Ottenbreit has been appointed Deputy Whip by Premier Brad Wall. "It's a house leadership position," explained Ottenbreit, who will act as deputy to Whip Randy Weekes.

Plans were announced at the Gallagher Centre on Monday for an initiative that will change the way crime is addressed in Yorkton.

The existing City Cemetery was given a new life Monday, as Yorkton Council approved a plan to expand the facility.
