Suspicious death in Melville

The suspicious death of a 41-year-old man in Melville was likely not murder, according to the RCMP. The deceased Melville man was found in his home, which has been blocked off by police since Tuesday morning.

Amendment allows apartment

Yorkton Council unanimously approved a Zoning Bylaw Amendment at its June 27 meeting to facilitate a new apartment development in the city. The amendment effectively enlarges a parcel of land on Balmoral Street to facilitate the development.

Rough stock rodeo set for August

The excitement of outdoor rodeo returns to Yorkton this August. Monday the Painted Hand Casino (PHC) announced it will host the 'Counting Coup CCA Rough Stock Rodeo'.

Drainage plan continues

Yorkton Council has approved a tender to begin what is essentially Phase I of the Dracup Avenue Drainage Project. At its regular meeting June 27 Council learned the City had received four tenders for the project ranging from $663,237 to the winner R.

Red Cross cash donations needed

Canadian Red Cross and SaskCentral today announced that effective immediately, cash donations to help Saskatchewan residents devastated by recent disasters will be accepted at participating Saskatchewan credit unions until July 22, 2011.

Firefighter injured

A Yorkton firefighter injured on the job in June is currently recovering. "We were at a structure fire at 75 Agriculture on June 13," recounts Yorkton Fire Protective Services Chief Dean Clark.
