Shawn Burke and the Ottawa Redblacks jumped-started CFL agency. Ottawa signed veteran American quarterback Jeremiah Masoli to a two-year contract Monday evening.

HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats re-signed Canadian running backs Sean Thomas Erlington and Maleek Irons on Monday. Thomas Erlington, 29, started eight of the 12 regular-season games he played last season.

VANCOUVER — The B.C. Lions signed Canadian offensive lineman Peter Godber to a contract extension Monday. The 27-year-old Godber was slated to become a free agent Tuesday. Godber, of Toronto, is entering his fourth season with B.C.

MONTREAL — The Montreal Alouettes signed running back William Stanback, linebacker Chris Ackie and receiver Jake Wieneke to contract extensions Monday. Stanback and Ackie signed two-year extensions while Wieneke will return for the '22 season.

Canada will be without talismanic captain Christine Sinclair for the inaugural Arnold Clark Cup later this month in England. Canada Soccer said the 38-year-old forward from Burnaby, B.C.

HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats promoted Craig Butler to special-teams co-ordinator Monday while adding Jason Phillips and Jykine Bradley to head coach Orlondo Steinuaer's staff.

BEIJING — Snowboarder Max Parrot led the way with a golden performance as Canada rebounded from a disappointing Sunday to collect four medals at the Beijing Olympics on Monday.

Canadian welterweight Mike (Proper) Malott will make his UFC debut at UFC 273 on April 9 in Jacksonville, Fla. The 30-year-old from Burlington, Ont.

WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Blue Bombers agreed to contract extensions with American defensive back Nick Taylor and Canadian running back Brady Oliveira on Monday. Taylor's deal is for one year while Oliveira's extension covers two seasons.

TORONTO — The Toronto Argonauts re-signed Canadian receiver Juwan Brescasin on Monday. Brescasin was limited to five games last season due to injury. The Mississauga, Ont., native had five catches for 44 yards and a TD.
