North Battleford athlete Katie Rathwell in action as a member of Team Saskatchewan who earned a fourth-place finish at the Canadian National U15 girls’ basketball championships Aug. 6 to 11 in Fredericton, N.B.

Maria Farmer from Port Hope, Ont. was in town last Tuesday donating a special item to the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Farmer had a ball signed by the 1992 World Series-winning Blue Jays.

Nearly eight months after a robbery on Mosquito First Nation, both co-accused have been sentenced. On Friday, Aug. 24, Marty Moccasin was sentenced to five years in jail, less time served, along with a lifetime ban of certain weapons.

The possible routing of trucks to and from a proposed SAGD project has some RM of Meota ratepayers concerned. Serafina Energy Ltd., based out of Calgary, is planning to build a SAGD project approximately two miles east of the 13 Mile Corner.

The pre-season schedule is out for the Battlefords North Stars. The SJHL released their schedule this past week. In total, the North Stars will have five pre-season games, four of them at home. But their first contest will be across the border.
