The Battlefords North Stars (18-13-6-0) power play looked far and away better than it has over the course of the season, but two short-handed goals from the Humboldt Broncos (16-19-3-0) was the difference in a 4-3 Broncos win Tuesday.

The Battleford Barons AA Atom Tier 1 team hosted the Wade Belak Memorial hockey tournament over the weekend, winning the championship.

Our husband, father and Opa, Reinhold Hirschfeld, passed away on January 9th, 2015. Opa’s journey has come to an end on Earth, and a new beginning in Heaven. It was a peaceful passing, with a lot of tears shed.

There is a new exhibit at the Western Development Museum in North Battleford that marks the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War. It runs from January until April from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding Mondays from January to March.

The John Paul II cheerleading team is heading into the spring competition season with their new routine. Coach Lesia Rathje held a choreography camp weekend Jan. 10-11.

North Battleford RCMP responded to 20 calls for service between 6 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14 and 6 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15. Over that time period, RCMP also made three arrests relating to alcohol offences.

A 24-year-old man is wanted by Battlefords RCMP for a wide range of offences including pointing a firearm after an incident in North Battleford at about 3 p.m. Wednesday.
