The Rivers West district is currently second in the medal count at the 2014 Saskatchewan Winter Games in Prince Albert with 33 total medals. Rivers West has won 11 gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze medals as of Feb. 19.

Ed, my neighbour next door, has had to go on some high blood pressure medicine. He is one to salt, to pepper and to butter his food generously. Ed claims food is tasteless without these big three seasonings.

Dear Editor In the Saskatchewan Wheat and Barley Commission Elections, farmers have rejected Ritz's poster children candidates.

With Saskatchewan SPCA investigators finding several deceased horses on a property just south of Scott, charges are pending against the owners of the horses. The horses were first reported on in the Jan. 30 issue of the Regional Optimist.

Thirty seems to be a routine number of calls dealt with by Battlefords RCMP during weekday 24-hour periods. Between 6 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19 and 6 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20 the answered just under that many calls, including three alarms.

Sunny skies shined down on sunny faces as members of the Battlefords Art Club met at Don Ross Centre Tuesday. What a glorious day to meet and share ideas. We enjoyed the enthusiasm of MacKenzie, a granddaughter of mine from Saskatoon.

This was a very busy week at Maymont Central School. The week began with the Achy Breaky Heart fundraiser sponsored by our student leadership council, the SLC.

Forty members of the North Battleford Action Now Seniors' Club did not let a snowy, blustery day stop them from attending the birthday luncheon held Feb. 12 at noon.

Bingo at Maidstone Drop In Centre was cancelled Feb. 12 as it was a very stormy day. The January-February potluck birthday luncheon was held at noon on Valentine's Day.

The Living Sky School Division hadtheir season-ending elementary school boys basketball championship Feb. 12. This year, the Bready School Bulldogs swept the season undefeated.
