Rivers West district dominate slalom events at 2014 Saskatchewan Winter Games
The Rivers West district is currently second in the medal count at the 2014 Saskatchewan Winter Games in Prince Albert with 33 total medals. Rivers West has won 11 gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze medals as of Feb. 19.

Four horses seized, others found dead - charges pending
With Saskatchewan SPCA investigators finding several deceased horses on a property just south of Scott, charges are pending against the owners of the horses. The horses were first reported on in the Jan. 30 issue of the Regional Optimist.

Thirty seems to be a routine number of calls dealt with by Battlefords RCMP during weekday 24-hour periods. Between 6 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19 and 6 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20 the answered just under that many calls, including three alarms.
