MRS. STELLA BARTKO: Mrs. Stella Bartko, age 92, of North Battleford, SK and formerly of Prince Albert, SK passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1 from River Park Memorial Chapel.

It was a relatively quiet 24 hours for Battlefords RCMP between 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3 and 6 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4 when they responded to 15 calls for service/occurrences. Two of those calls were alarms that proved to be false. Monday 7:33 a.m.

Allie Raycraft could still be working, but just over a year ago she said, "I'm 76 years old. I don't think I need to do this any more." Raycraft was born in Inverness, Que., which is a small community in Megantic County.

BAILLARGEON: It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Rollande Marie Baillargeon on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the age of 72. Rollande was born August 9, 1941 in Edam, Saskatchewan.

Red Pheasant First Nation has signed an agreement with a Winnipeg-based company to finance development of Treaty Land Entitlement urban lands.

After the final weekend of the SPHL's regular season, the Cut Knife Colts finished the season in first place. The Colts split their final two games of the season. Cut Knife travelled to Glaslyn to face off against the North Stars Jan. 29.

RCMP have released the name of a Biggar area woman who died Monday in a crash between a school bus and a truck at about 4 p.m. on Highway 4 between Biggar and Cando. Police say the woman is Monica Domes, 40, of the Biggar district.

Battlefords North Stars goaltender Michael Gudmandson picked up two SJHL awards this week. Gudmandson was named the SJHL's goaltender of the month for January. Over the course of the month, he won seven games, two of which were shutouts.

A homicide investigation is underway in connection to a death on Moosomin First Nation. The victim is Bryan Darnell Blackstar, 24 years old, of Moosomin First Nation. His name was released Monday morning by RCMP.
