A group of 41 students and four staff from H. Hardcastle School were lucky enough to attend Saskatchewan's very first We Day at Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon on Feb. 2.

Organizations around the village have been meeting recently. The Waseca Playground Committee made plans for an Easter Extravaganza to be held at the Waesca Hall March 24 from 1 to 4 pm.

The North Saskatchewan River Hockey League's championship series got started Saturday as the first overall St. Walburg Eagles hosted the second overall Wilkie Outlaws.

It was a beautiful spring week although there were mornings of fog, the temperature was right at freezing or above in the daytime. When I saw the sun I liked it. The end of August will be full of rain. We have had this before.

Nine teams participated in the Twin Rivers Curling Club 82nd annual River Rockers Bonspiel. The women's bonspiel was moved up earlier in the season this time around, but it was still great curling.

The Canadian Antiques Roadshow is on its way to North Battleford after a four-day event in Red Deer, Alta. Red Deer folks turned out in droves to discover if Gram's old vase or dad's old guitar was the next million dollar discovery.

To say the Battlefords Midget Stars and Saskatoon Contacts don't like each other might be the understatement of the season. In Saskatoon's game one win there were 31 penalty minutes issued between the two teams and one game misconduct.

A draft of the school year calendar for 2013-14 school year for Battlefords and area students has been developed to reflect the provincial government's new directive for all schools to provide 950 hours of instructional time per year.
