The City of North Battleford reported Wednesday afternoon that 101st Street and 11th Avenue will continue to operate as a four-way stop until later tomorrow (Thursday, July 5). The traffic lights are out as SaskPower conducts some work in the area.

The Battlefords Ball Hockey League wrapped up June 28, as the final two playoff games were played in the 11 to 15 division. The Falcons met up with the Eagles in the championship game and came away with a 7-3 win.

After a week of unsettled weather, Canada Day turned out very well for celebrations. Many people from the district attended all or part of the day in Maidstone. They enjoyed the parade, among other things.

I've been thinking lately about "the changing times." Events that are taking place around the world are having a profound effect on our future. Some changes are good of course, but some are definitely not. Time passes so quickly, too.

The Northwest Vipers entered the Battlefords and District Ladies' League playoffs with a 13-1 record and in first place. The Vipers proved to be the favourite Monday, as the playoffs started at the Flats for the league's eight teams.

From a child being held hostage by his bicycle to a Molotov cocktail lobbed onto a residential lawn, North Battleford Fire and Emergency Services personnel had a wild and crazy few days leading up to the Canada Day Weekend. Friday at about 6:30 p.m.

More interesting weather could be headed for the Northwest.The Weather Network reported Tuesday morning, severe thunderstorms are possible for this afternoon and evening over portions of Saskatchewan.

The Flats will be filled with action on the weekend and some impressive softball. Battlefords Minor Softball and the Battlefords Bantam Bandits are hosting the Bantam B Provincial Championships.

The discussion was far longer than anticipated, but North Battleford has given its support to the proposed Greater Battlefords Marketing Alliance.
