A former Battlefords resident turned nationally-known entrepreneur and businessnessman is one of those named to the Order of Canada. W. Brett Wilson is one of 50 people named to the Order of Canada last Thursday by Governor General David Johnston.

EMS hopping on long weekend

In four days over the course of the long weekend there was one car accident, three dumpster fires and two vehicle fires in the Battlefords and Area. The car accident happened at the intersection of 8th Avenue and 110th Street on Thursday at 6:15 p.m.

Council notes for Monday, June 27

A meeting of city council June 27 was the last one before the summer schedule takes effect. Council meetings are reduced to one per month during July and August to accommodate summer vacations. Council will meet again July 25 and again on Aug. 22.

The bloodsuckers are coming back

Parks and recreation head Keith Anderson had the sad duty to inform city council June 27 that, indeed, the bloodsuckers are coming back.
