Another water treatment plant in North Battleford is to be shut down temporarily, though this time it was a planned shutdown. Water Treatment Plant No. 1 will be temporarily shut down for approximately two days, starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

If it had been the Foot Monologues, or the Back Monologues, or even the Liver Monologues, people may not have taken notice of the posters around town.

The 11th place Battlefords Midget Stars hosted the seventh place Tisdale Trojans on the weekend and it was the Stars earning two big wins on home ice.

The City of North Battleford is once again gearing up for participation at this year's Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association convention later this month in Saskatoon. The convention, Jan. 30 to Feb.

I would like to dedicate this article to someone near and dear to our hearts, Sarah (Gillatt) Beaudion. A birthday party was held Jan. 7 in the seniors' hall to celebrate Sarah's 93rd birthday. Family and friends gathered for this event.

The crazies are always with us. They stained the clean parchment of a new year early in its first month.

A community potluck supper was held Jan. 4 in the Borden Community Centre to pay tribute to Ken Tanchak, who has retired as RM of Great Bend administrator after serving in that capacity for 33 years.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all Rabbit Lake and area residents a belated Happy New Year, and best wishes for 2011. The Rabbit Lake Community Hall is the place to be on Jan. 14 as a kaiser tournament gets underway at 7 p.m.

A belated Happy New Year to all Medstead and area residents, and I hope 2011 proves to be a good year for you. In contrast to previous activity laden months, January has started off slowly with few activities happening at the moment.

A year after the Olympic Torch made its way through the Battlefords, a lasting legacy was unveiled at the North Battleford Sports Museum and Hall of Fame. An interactive "living legacy" commemorating the Torch Relay and the events of Jan.
