AAA Sharks attacked by Saskatoon Stars
Tuesday marked the beginning of the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League and the Battleford AAA Sharks made the short trip to Saskatoon to start the season. They started the season, but weren't necessarily ready, as they lost 11-0.

Long gun registry stays put
The long gun registry will remain in place, at least for now. In a vote Sept. 22 in Parliament, MPs voted 153-151 kill Candice Hoeppner's private member's bill to scrap the registry. That means the long gun registry remains in place.

The stadium lights at Beaver Lions Stadium in North Battleford are now repaired and back up and running as the fall football season goes into high gear. Repairs were needed after a pole switch blew in June.

The older the fiddle the sweeter the tune
Harold Anderson received his first fiddle on his eighth birthday. Living on a farm near Foam Lake, Anderson attended a two-room school along with his four brothers and five sisters. One of the teachers, Metro Syrnyk, was a violinist.
