After all of Saskatchewan is back on the bandwagon, the climb to the top of the CFL's West Division heats up since Calgary went into a bit of a funk.

Tuesday marked the beginning of the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League and the Battleford AAA Sharks made the short trip to Saskatoon to start the season. They started the season, but weren't necessarily ready, as they lost 11-0.

The long gun registry will remain in place, at least for now. In a vote Sept. 22 in Parliament, MPs voted 153-151 kill Candice Hoeppner's private member's bill to scrap the registry. That means the long gun registry remains in place.

The stadium lights at Beaver Lions Stadium in North Battleford are now repaired and back up and running as the fall football season goes into high gear. Repairs were needed after a pole switch blew in June.

North Battleford Fire and Emergency Services were back on the job battling a dumpster fire in the city, this time on 105th Street. The incident happened at 8:49 p.m. Sunday night.

Special constables from the City of North Battleford say they are investigating two animal attacks on the weekend, with one dog fatally injured during one of the attacks.

I'm feeling pretty good about being a journalist today. To the common man, it would seem the courts like journalists, at least more than teachers. How else can you explain the two court decisions that came out of Saskatoon Sept.

Harold Anderson received his first fiddle on his eighth birthday. Living on a farm near Foam Lake, Anderson attended a two-room school along with his four brothers and five sisters. One of the teachers, Metro Syrnyk, was a violinist.

The Battlefords North Stars started the season with high expectations and although it is too early to start panicking they are winless through their first four games.
