The Humboldt Broncos may have lost their first game of a three-game home stand last week, but wins over the Nipawin Hawks and Battlefords North Stars over the weekend moved the Broncos to top spot in the SJHL's north division.

While the junior curling program in Humboldt has been steadily increasing over the past three years, organizer Brian Wempe is thrilled with the significant jump in numbers for the 2012-2013 season.

It's very close to done. The Habitat for Humanity build in Humboldt is nearly ready for the families to move in.

It's pretty sad when one of our province's claims to fame is leading the country in drinking and driving.

GRUNSKY, Arlene Marie (nee Schiltz) Arlene was born on January 19, 1934 in Humboldt, Saskatchewan and grew up on a farm near Annaheim, Saskatchewan, with her parents, Cornelius and Mary Schiltz and four sisters.

BENTLEY, Ethel Anna (nee Egeto) Ethel Bentley, aged 95 years, passed away at Lanigan Hospital on Thursday, January 10, 2013. Ethel was born on the family farm February 20, 1917.

DUST, Doreen The peaceful passing of Doreen Dust, 87 years, of Lakeview Pioneer Lodge, Wakaw and formerly of Bruno, occurred at her residence with her family by her side, on Friday, January 11, 2013.

The numbers are in and the Humboldt SPCA's Christmas fostering program was a resounding success. "Of the eight dogs we fostered, six were adopted and two are coming back," said Wanda Price, manager and animal care director for the SPCA.

Christmas is a time to gather with friends and family. The Filipino Association in Humboldt and District (FAHD) held their induction of officers and annual Christmas party on December 22 at St. Augustine School Gym.
