The North East School Division board of education is concerned about rising costs for several necessary construction materials.

“The first part, or the majority of the campaign, is spent in the quiet phase of the campaign. We’re really going off having conversations, doing proposals and getting support for the campaign and then down the road we can make the major announcements,” said Don Gorsalitz of DCG Philanthropic Services.

In the meantime, 811 and 911 are available, while emergency services are available at Kelvington & Area Hospital and the Tisdale Hospital.

The museum exhibition space redesign won’t be an instantaneous renovation, and there will be no knocked down walls, but an active endeavour to focus more on local stories with smaller exhibits that can be more easily moved.  

The gap may be attributed at least in part to the disruptions to schooling and shifts to remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, division officials said.

The position of fire chief for the Town of Nipawin has been vacant since earlier this summer when David Balding left the role.

Horizon’s board of education will match all cash donations up to $5,000, and tax receipts will be issued.

The Humboldt SPCA has been active, with the Humboldt Broncos helping with winterization and a fundraiser with Discovery Ford.

There will be walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinics for children in Humboldt, LeRoy and Carrot River this week.
