HUMBOLDT — A project to repair a part of the Uniplex’s roof above an electrical tunnel has become larger than expected. The roof experienced water leaks for several years. During the 2021 budget process, the city set aside $30,000 for the repairs.

HUMBOLDT — Council has voted to ratify a new collective bargaining agreement with its unionized workers that includes wage increases in 2021 and 2022.

NIPAWIN — The Boreal Area Regional Waste Authority Inc. (BARWA) landfill is back to normal operations two days after a fire ignited in one of its cells. The cause of the fire, which began on June 15, is not known at this time.

NIPAWIN — Shirley Phillips says she is "shocked" to see a Nipawin bridge spanning decades of local history indefinitely closed to traffic.

The province has reported a single death in the Central East zone. Provincial health officials said June 15 the person was in the 70 to 79 age group. The Central East zone includes Humboldt, Yorkton and Melville.

HUMBOLDT — A fundraising effort for a $20,000 surgical microscope used to insert tubes into the ears of child patients has been launched by the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation.

MELFORT — Kevin Nagy never left his daughter Jayda's side for 12 days. The Melfort 14-year-old was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis, a condition where the body's immune system turns against its liver.

NIPAWIN — Other than deliveries by MTN Disposal, the Boreal Area Regional Waste Authority Inc. (BARWA) has temporarily closed landfill closed access to household waste due to a fire on the site.

MELFORT — Residents of Cairns Avenue East in Melfort have petitioned and successfully opted out of the addition of sidewalk, curbs and gutters to a block of the subdivision.
