NIPAWIN — Nipawin’s fire ban, previously issued on June 3, has been lifted effective immediately. The ban prohibited all open air fires and fireworks. The use of gas or charcoal barbeques was not restricted.

EAST CENTRAL — A local MP’s effort to create a tax credit for home security systems has been defeated.

Cumberland House Cree Nation has declared sovereignty over the largest inland freshwater river delta in North America.

HUMBOLDT — Humboldt and its immediate area faced more severe drought conditions in May compared to many of its east central neighbours, according to the Canadian Drought Monitor’s monthly report.

One new death is being reported in the Central East zone. The provincial government said the person was in the 70 to 79 age group. The Central East zone contains Humboldt, Yorkton and Melville.
