MELFORT — A large part of a politician’s job is getting out into the communities they represent. Due to COVID-19, this has been challenging for Randy Hoback, MP for Prince Albert, but still an important part of his job.

MELFORT — McDonald’s Canada has released in a statement that some employees are getting tested in their Melfort location after one was diagnosed with active tuberculosis (TB). Previous guests are not thought to be of risk for infection.

PLUNKET — A semi trailer hauling lumber products incurred fire damage, closing Highway 16 near Plunket. Humboldt-Lanigan RCMP said at 11:55 p.m. on Aug. 19 Highway 16 was closed as emergency crews cleaned up the scene. As of 5:37 a.m. on Aug.

HUMBOLDT — Two new high efficiency boilers will be installed at the Uniplex at a cost of almost $59,000, excluding tax. The winning bid, out of seven, was SaskWest Mechanical.

TISDALE — While there won’t be a night race this year at the Tisdale Speedway due to Covid-19, there will be a race weekend celebrating 20 years on the track.

EAST CENTRAL — Efforts are underway throughout Carrot River, Melfort, Prince Albert and Birch Hills to create a senior men’s baseball league.

HUMBOLDT — Humboldt is joining the queue to receive provincial dollars for repairs on Highway 20 and Highway 5.

UPDATE: Journey Kay has been found safe and sound. Cell phones in Humboldt buzzed with an alert about a missing four-year-old child. The alert, was happened around 8:45 a.m. on Aug. 19, didn't say which community Journey Kay went missing from.

EAST CENTRAL — Heat warning from Environment Canada continue for the entire region today.

A 14 year old Sudbury boy is hoping to show off his new LIGHT IR device, which he said is designed to detect cancer cells far more quickly than any other device. Aaryan Harshith will soon enter Grade 10.
