EAST CENTRAL — After a vote, 85 per cent of teachers voted to accept a new four-year agreement with the province. The agreement includes a two per cent salary increase in years two, three and four. It will be effective from Sept. 1, 2019 to Aug.

CARROT RIVER— The Town of Carrot River has reduced the amount of their annual property tax increase from 7.5 per cent into 5 per cent, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic implications.

For those going to Saskatoon or Regina for a shop at Costco, be warned the chain is asking all customers to wear a mask or face covering to visit their stores. The chain announced the updated policy online May 21.

If all goes to plan, Phase III of the Reopen Saskatchewan plan will start June 8. “I want to emphasize that June 8 is a target date. We hope to begin Phase III on June 8 but that can change,” said Scott Moe, Saskatchewan's premier.

RM OF TORCH RIVER — Due to some rain, the growth of the English fire in the Fort à la Corne Provincial Forest has slowed. As of 11 a.m. on May 21, the fire is estimated to be 41,900 hectares, compared to 40,000 hectares the day before.

NIPAWIN — Nipawin is at its lowest point of debt in the last 10 years, according to a report presented to that town’s council Barry Elliott, Nipawin’s administrator, brought the report to council’s attention during the May 11 council meeting.

TISDALE—The Tisdale RCMP is asking for public assistance to identify a man connected to a local theft which occurred in December. The theft occurred at a business on 93rd Avenue in Tisdale, on December 29.

EAST CENTRAL — The provincial New Democrats have selected a candidate for Kelvington-Wadena. Linda Patenaude was acclaimed at a virtual nominating convention May 20.

HUMBOLDT — A pork producer with a location in LeRoy is giving $50,000 to the Humboldt District Hospital Foundation. HyLife presented the cheque outside of the Humboldt District Hospital on May 20.

MELFORT— Melfort Campsite will remain closed for camping in the foreseeable future, the sites being utilized by essential contract workers who are operating in the area.
