There’s more demand for hand sanitizer than ever due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the need to stop germs from spreading.

The Saskatchewan government announced its plan to reopen the province on Thursday. After the news broke, the mood in northern Saskatchewan was one of relief; the pandemic, it seemed, was drawing to a close.

An update to the Saskatchewan Health Authority modelling and healthcare system readiness plan shows a large decrease in projected COVID-19 cases and deaths in the province.

EAST CENTRAL — Things have been a little different for staff at local greenhouses this year but things will slowly return to normal as the Saskatchewan growing season starts.

KINISTIN SAULTEAUX NATION — After a case of COVID-19 was diagnosed at James Smith First Nation, Kinistin Saulteaux Nation Chief Greg Scott and the rest of the band council decided to lockdown their community. The lockdown came into effect on April 5.

MELFORT— A 50-year-old man has been charged with driving 102 km/ hr in a 50 km/ hr zone within Melfort city limits— the same as a separate driver did six days prior.

HUMBOLDT — Humboldt residents on Second Street, Third Street, Fifth Street and Landmark Place will see power outages over the next few days. On April 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

HUMBOLDT — There will be no blanket deferral of tax and utility bills in Humboldt, but the city will set up an alternate payment plan for those facing financial hardship due to the pandemic.

HUMBOLDT — This year’s Summer Sizzler is cancelled due to the pandemic. City council voted to cancel the June 18 to 21 event at its meeting on April 27.

TISDALE—Tisdale EMS, RCMP, Fire Department and Northeast Regional Victim Services gave a moment of silence tribute for Cst. Heidi Stevenson, who died on duty during a recent Nova Scotia shooting spree.
