CARROT RIVER — Regular voting for Carrot River’s new mayor has been rescheduled for Friday, May 8. The byelection was originally planned for Wednesday, March 25, but due to pandemic measures it had to be cancelled.

MELFORT— All City of Melfort utility disconnects and late charges have been suspended until Sept. 30. Bill reminders will continue to be sent to residents. This was passed by Melfort council in a Zoom conference meeting on April 6.

Premier Scott Moe announced on Monday that for the first time since the COVID-19 outbreak hit Saskatchewan, there have been more recoveries than new confirmed cases in a single day.

MELFORT — The Melfort Fire Department has adapted to the crisis with chemical and biohazard suits, as well as reaching out to retired firefighters for emergency personnel.

HUMBOLDT — Several Humboldt Fire Department operating procedures have changed during the pandemic including a temporary halt to training nights. “We normally meet every two weeks to do a practice night,” said Mike Kwasnica, Humboldt’s fire chief.

The leader of Saskatchewan's NDP is encouraging people to wear cloth masks in public to slow the spread of COVID-19.

CARROT RIVER — Following the letter of the law, Carrot River has rescheduled its mayoral byelection for Friday, May 8.

HUMBOLDT — Bentley and Jody Sperle of Unity were the big winners of this year's edition of the Humboldt Broncos Lottery of Cash. The brothers won the $100,000 grand prize. The 50/50 winner, priced at $43,180, was Ragnar Staf of Rose Valley.
