The citizens of Humboldt were commended by the Governor General for their response to the Broncos bus crash.

NORTHEAST — The North East School Division is changing some policy wording with the legalization of cannabis, but from a student’s perspective nothing will change.

A tractor worth around $150,000 stolen from an implement dealer in Avonlea was recovered by the Humboldt-Lanigan RCMP on a farm property between Annaheim and Spalding. Cst.

The Horizon School Division will be using its own money to buy a portable for Wadena Elementary School. The portable is still in the engineering stage, but is expected to cost in the neighbourhood of $300,000.

Watson has elected a new councillor. Lindsey Sobchyshyn won the Oct. 17 byelection with 147 votes. He ran against Doug Ehlert, who received 20 votes. The byelection was held to replace Kevin Frerich, who resigned from council in May.

FORT À LA CORNE — Test drilling for diamonds has started on the first bulk sample hole in the Fort à la Corne forest.

A brand-new bridge in the RM of Clayton collapsed within hours of it being open to the public. The RM is saying there was no geotechnical investigation done before the bridge was built, something that’s highly irregular.

TISDALE — Author Amy Jo Ehman knew since high school she wanted to be a journalist and writer. Finishing high school, she went on to journalism school and then worked at CBC as a reporter.

MELFORT — Melfort RCMP have laid charges in relation to the vandalism of the fountain at Memorial Gardens on Main Street in Melfort. A video camera was used by the RCMP in finding his identity.
