A three-day dance camp was aimed at getting local children excited for the upcoming season at the Impact Dance Company. As has been the case over the last number of years, Impact once again hosted their dance intensive Aug. 27 to 29.

There is only so much learning a team can do in practice. That’s why the Humboldt Collegiate Mohawks put their practice skills to the test in a controlled scrimmage against Rosetown on Aug. 29 in Saskatoon.

For the Humboldt Broncos, a trip to their former head coach Darcy Haugan’s hometown gave the team a chance to prove themselves in competitive conditions.

TISDALE — There will soon be a sign warning motorist to watch for pedestrians on 103rd Avenue near the Tisdale Dance Centre. In a letter to council, Dana Mutimer with the centre asked council if a sign would be possible.

The Humboldt Broncos are the 2018 inductees into the Horizon School Division’s Wall of Fame. The club was officially inducted during Horizon’s annual Celebration Day on Aug. 29.

MELFORT — Despite having a shoulder injury limit him to nine games last season, defenseman Tyler Heidt will be leaving the Melfort Mustangs to join the Merrimack College Warriors.

Watson is trying for a third time to fill an empty spot on its council. Kevin Frerich resigned from council in May. Since then, there have been two calls for nominations that haven’t seen any candidates come forward.

A new hire by the Humboldt Broncos will have players’ backs as they navigate the life of a junior A hockey player – while also dealing with a tragedy’s aftermath. Mark Popovic will serve as the team’s director of personal development and leadership.

As students come back for another school year at Humboldt Collegiate Institute, the high school is focused on adjusting to a new normal.

MELFORT — Two Melfort residents have been fined almost $16,000, plus had around $20,000 worth of hunting equipment seized, for running an illegal outfitting operation.
