Despite the difficult weekend endured by much of the City of Humboldt staff, Mayor Rob Muench expressed his heartfelt thanks to every member of the city who worked throughout the weekend to make it through.

In Humboldt, the hockey arena is the place where fans gather to cheer on their local hockey heroes.

NORTHEAST — The provincial budget is on track to get back to surplus, said a local MLA, while the area’s mayors are concerned about the effect on their budgets.

After shooting four deer while having only two tags, two Melfort men attempted to cover up that fact by doing a bit of a switcheroo. They’ve been fined a combined $10,500.

NORTHEAST — The North East School Division is seeing an increase in the funding it receives from the provincial government, but that doesn’t make up for cuts made in the last two years.

CARROT RIVER — Pat Brown, who has been involved in so many volunteer activities in Carrot River that locals have difficulty summarizing what she’s involved with, has been declared citizen of the year.

NIPAWIN — The Nipawin Hawks have been trying to process last week’s events by concentrating on their favourite sport.

NIPAWIN — A Nipawin company was fined $5,600 for failing to pay wages within 14 days of termination of employment. Ridgewood Ranch Inc.

TISDALE — The Tisdale Kinettes have revealed what the new skate park will look like once the two-phase project is complete. The first phase will cost $130,000 and includes the concrete pad where the park will rest.
