It was a busy week for the Nipawin Hawks on the ice with four games in six days, it was an equally busy week off as the Hawks acquired a pair of players.

There is no place like home, and for Kelvington’s Wendel Clark that was never more apparent than during Wendel Clark Day. Clark returned home to Kelvington to be honoured by the community, with a day on Oct. 21 specially revolving around him.

As the half-barrel full of oils burned, a youth grabbed a fire extinguisher, spraying at the base of the flame to stop the blaze. Then the fire was relit and the process repeated itself.

High winds reeked havoc across most of Saskatchewan on Oct. 17-18, and Humboldt was no different, as an apartment building on the 600 block of 7th St. had its roof blown off.

Members of the Melfort-based Prairie North Co-op and Kelvington-based East Central Co-op will vote on whether or not the two co-operatives should merge. The two co-ops have been exploring the possibility of amalgamation for years.

The Greenwater RCMP are asking for help in finding a 14-year-old girl. Nyesha Squirrel was reported missing Oct. 23. She was last seen at 9 a.m. near Rose Valley.

After years of renting, Laura Lofstrom will finally have a home she can call her own. “It’s mine. That’s the main part,” said the Nipawin resident. “At least when I’m paying, it’s going to the mortgage and it’s mine.

The Diamond North Credit Union celebrated the end of a five year project in the making with a grand re-opening of its Nipawin branch and headquarters.

While it was an honour to be nominated for the 2017 Saskatchewan Camber of Commerce ABEX Awards, it was an even greater honour to win.

A pickup truck rollover on Highway #106 was fatal to one passenger and caused minor injuries to three other occupants. The single vehicle rollover happened while the truck was heading southbound on Oct. 21 at approximately 12:00 p.m.
