The Town of Porcupine Plain has issued a fire ban, effect Sept. 8. No one in town is to light any open fires, nor set off fireworks. The order will remain in effect until further notice.

The Nipawin Hawks wasted little time jumping in to their pre-season schedule as they locked horns with the Flin Flon Bombers for a pair of weekend matchups. The Hawks kicked off the week on Sept. 2 as they welcomed the Flin Flon Bombers to the Cage.

It’s interesting to look back at the old newspapers and get a glimpse of what people thought would never change. One of those things was Sunday shopping.

School is just around the corner and PARTNER’S Family Services has been hard at work in recent weeks collecting school supplies to get children ready to go back.

The birds are back in their cage, as the Nipawin Hawks welcomed players back to the Cage with their training camp. The two-day camp featured approximately 60 players ranging in age from 1997-born players through to 2002-born players.

All three of the Nipawin council byelection candidates present at a public all-candidates forum agreed – they support the direction of the town’s current council.

The case of a Tisdale man charged with attempted murder has been adjourned until December. Kevin Yelland , who had his third court appearance in Tisdale Sept. 5, will face a preliminary hearing Dec. 19 at Tisdale Provincial Court.

With their sights set on improving upon last year’s fifth place finish in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League regular season standings, the Humboldt Broncos returned to the ice over the weekend for a three-day training camp. The Aug. 31-Sept.
