Ah, graduation time. A time for young people to cast off their high school chains and move on into the chains of adulthood. In honour of that, I present my sagely advise to grads everywhere. 1.

It was a night of reflection for a number of people, reflecting on what they had done and where they had been. This reflection took place during the 11th Night of Champions celebration on June 24.

Humboldt does a terrific job remembering their history. On June 24 I had the opportunity to attend the Humboldt and District Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony and what a great event.

Parker Wakaruk Parker Wakaruk is the latest Humboldt Bronco to make a foray into collegiate hockey as he recently announced his commitment to Selkirk College in Castlegar, B.C. The 20-year-old Lethbridge, Alta.

There was much to celebrate on June 21 as Horizon School Division raised four First Nation flags in honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day.

It has been a project that has been brought to council twice before and now will go forward this year. However, not everyone is happy about the paving of 14th Street from 3rd Avenue to 1st Avenue South.

It was a special event that happened Canada wide. In Humboldt, it was the Humboldt Regional Newcomer Centre who hosted CBC’s Becoming Canadian viewing party on June 26.

WILGER: John January 5, 1939 – June 20, 2017 John Alvin Wilger of Englefeld, SK, passed away at the Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson, SK, on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, surrounded by his family and friends. He was 78 years of age.

MUELLER: Louise June 30, 1931 - June 13, 2017 Louise was born in the Spalding District on June 30, 1931 to Thomas and Elizabeth (nee Vettrel) Burns. She received her education at the Champlain school near Spalding.

HUESER: Donald January 7, 1938 – June 19, 2017 The peaceful death of Donald Hueser, 79 years, of Pilger occurred on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Humboldt District Hospital, with family by his side.
