The defense continues to be a work in progress for the Melfort Mustangs but they are continuing to improve as they finished the week with a 1-0-0-1 record.

Melfort skateboarders, BMXers and scooter riders got a glimpse of a new 12,000 square foot skatepark that could be built in summer 2017.

It was a packed house for the Friends of the Museum and Gallery Festival of Wreaths live auction on Dec. 8 at the Humboldt and District Gallery.

HCI SADD chapter was out in the cold to make sure no one drinks and drives this season. Five SADD chapter students, Cst. Marc Thibodeau from the Humboldt RCMP, and teachers Jamie White and Stacy Jackson all braved the cold on Dec.

Christmas story on stage at St. Augustine By Becky Zimmer Journal Editor St. Augustine School was singing to the rafters at their Christmas Concert on Dec. 15 with both the afternoon and evening shows being packed houses.

Humboldt Collegiate Institute honoured a pair of local high school sports legends on the weekend. The Mohawks played host to the Kevin J. Grieman Memorial Pink Tournament and Cancer Fundraiser on Dec. 9-10.

Schools should do more to showcase student talent. I had the pleasure of attending the St. Dominic Christmas Concert on Dec. 8. Each of the four Humboldt area schools have had or will have concerts and it is nice to see.

It was recently announced that the Government of Saskatchewan will continue support for anti-bullying program by distributing $215,000 worth of funding to local organizations.
