It is everyone’s downtown. And the Humboldt Downtown Business Improvement District wanted to hear everyone’s concerns, suggestions, and ideas at their World Cafe on Jun. 22 at the Humboldt Legion.

The Filipino community wrapped up their third annual Basketbol Balik Laro basketball season on Jun. 25 in front of a raucous crowd.

Humboldt Collegiate Institute celebrated their Awards Day on Jun. 7.

Now I cannot say that all schools do this. However, I do know some schools have a tendency to put more focus on athletics over everything else.

On Jun. 25, I had the pleasure of attending the Filipino basketball league championship game and what an atmosphere.

KIENLEN: Amelia Rose February 4, 1911 – June 16, 2016 Amelia Rose Kienlen passed away peacefully on June 16, 2016, at the age of 105, at Porteous Lodge, Saskatoon, SK, where she received wonderful care over the past couple of years.

HERGOTT: Gerald Albert December 9, 1935 – June 21, 2016 The death of Mr. Gerald Albert Hergott of Bethany Pioneer Village, Middle Lake, SK, (and formerly of Humboldt, SK), occurred at his residence on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. He was 80 years of age.

JASKEN: Melvin John October 25, 1934 – June 20, 2016 It is with profound sadness that the family of Melvin John Jasken of Bruno, SK, announces his sudden and unexpected death at his residence on Monday, June 20, 2016. He was 81 years of age.

MENZ: Clara Rosa May 5, 1919 – June 21, 2016 The death of Clara Rosa (nee Vogelsang) Menz of St. Mary’s Villa, Humboldt, SK (and formerly of Muenster SK) occurred at her residence on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. She was 97 years of age.

SOBCHYSHYN: Ernie Mervin Dec 12, 1929 – June 10, 2016 In loving remembrance of a beautiful man, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Ernie Mervin Sobchyshyn, who passed peacefully at the Humboldt District Health Complex on June 10, 201
