Service dogs for veterans are $10,000 each. And Humboldt residents want to help Saskatchewan veterans get them at the Paws for Veterans gala on Jun. 3 at the Humboldt’s Royal Canadian Legion.

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 28 Humboldt hosted their Decoration Day on Jun. 5. The day began at the Veterans’ Section of Humboldt Public Cemetery where a small service was held.

Local athletes enjoyed a very successful trip to Regina for the 2016 Provincial Track and Field Championships on Jun. 3-4. In total athletes from around the region picked up eight gold medals, eight silver medals and 16 bronze medals.

U16 Hurricanes capture Silver at Hollandia Cup The Humboldt U16 Hurricanes captured the silver medal at the Hollandia Cup tournament in Saskatoon May 27-29.

I had the pleasure of attending the Decoration Day at the Veterans’ Section of the Humboldt Public Cemetery on Sunday (See page 2 in this weeks Journal) and it was nice to see the support the veterans who have passed away received.

My adventure started long before I ever put on the shoulder pads. My adventure started at the age of 5 when my brothers taught me how to throw a football.

POELKING: Donna Margaret (nee Baugh) April, 1943 – May 16th, 2016 Donna passed away peacefully with family at her side at the age of 73 in Victoria, B.C., after a hard fought battle against multiple myeloma.

CRONE: Donald July 10, 1940 – May 23, 2016 The death of Mr. Donald Crone of Annaheim, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, SK, on Monday, May 23, 2016. He was 75 years of age.
