POELKING: Donna Margaret (nee Baugh) April, 1943 – May 16th, 2016 Donna passed away peacefully with family at her side at the age of 73 in Victoria, B.C., after a hard fought battle against multiple myeloma.

CRONE: Donald July 10, 1940 – May 23, 2016 The death of Mr. Donald Crone of Annaheim, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital, Humboldt, SK, on Monday, May 23, 2016. He was 75 years of age.

Humboldt will be called to the polls on Oct. 26 but one particular name will not be on the ballot. Mayor Malcolm Eaton announced on May 26 that he will not be running for re-election.

As part of EMS week Humboldt EMS hosted an open house at their home base on May 26.

Grade eight students from Humboldt Public School, St. Augustine and St. Dominic spent May 26 poolside racing cardboard boats.

It is something that has been talked about for years. Now band members from Humboldt Public School, St. Augustine, St. Dominic, and HCI can say they have performed together on one stage at the Band Extravaganza on May 25.

With the end of the school year, June is a wrap up time for Humboldt’s Big Brothers Big Sisters. And they are wrapping up for the summer with a fun day of pampering at their Diva for a Day golf tournament on Jun. 4.

This is a call for young people to step up and take the reins. People stay in small communities for a reason. They stay because home has always meant something to them.
