A public meeting Wednesday to discuss formation of an artist run centre in downtown North Battleford went well, says organizer Joseph Campbell.

The charity game between the Battlefords Peewee AA Barons and Battleford Central School Staff and Friends held last week may well become an annual event.

Jan. 19 - 25 is National Non-Smoking Week, with Wednesday, Jan. 22 set aside as Weedless Wednesday. Residents of Prairie North Health Region are encouraged to consider the reason why Jan. 22 has been chosen as Weedless Wednesday in Canada.

Happy New Year to all. The Battlefords Art Club has 27 members this year, all dedicated to their media. The club discussed the proposed artist run centre downtown. We received a nice festive greeting card from the Chapel Gallery.

Hi there! Brrr! Isn't it cold now? However we were so fortunate to have nice weather for Christmas. So I do hope you all had a lovely time of getting together with families . Some of the residents certainly did.

City of North Battleford Historic Archives invites the public to attend the annual City of North Battleford Historic Archives Week display and information booth on Thursday, Feb. 6 from noon until 5 p.m. at the Frontier Mall and Saturday, Feb.

Our first day back was a bitterly cold day, so the buses were not able to bring the students to school.

One thing I do like about January, besides celebrating the birthdays of our two kids, is the fact that, although not completely obvious, you can notice slightly the days getting just moments longer as each day passes.

The year 2014 opened as cold as 2013 left, so we are used to it by now, but that doesn't mean we really like it that way.
