Area Christmas programs enjoyed

High score at Canasta, played Dec. 20, went to John Soloninko and Charles Walker, but a good time was enjoyed by everyone who played at the Do Drop In that evening. This is held every second Friday evening and anyone is welcome to join in.

Former residents keep in touch

Keith and Eileen Evans spent Christmas Day with their daughter, Karen, her husband Brian Sjoberg and their daughters in Lloydminster. Terry and René Pike and daughter, Lexi, returned home Dec. 27 after enjoy a week's golfing trip to points south.

Carol sing a seasonal treat

Alec Jeffrey is home after spending some time in Maidstone Hospital. We wish him continued return to good health. On Sunday afternoon, Dec. 15, the Lutheran Church sponsored a carol sing at Waseca Hall.

Winter is now 'officially' here

My thermometer presently reads -30 C. This is the second very cold spell we have experienced and winter only began, Dec. 21.

Reflecting on the year that was

The new year is here and as usual we take the chance to have a look over our shoulders at all the things that in January 2013 we did or promised we would. It seemed as the year passed by it has left a great taste in the mouth.

Waseca Christmas service enjoyed

Marleen and Frank Gabrielle of Rosetown were visitors with Rose Danychuk. Their granddaughter was playing hockey here. Rose felt really honoured to have them visit her as she had taught Frank in 1947. That's a few years ago.

Tasty bingo prizes

The Borden Friendship Club held a Christmas bingo on Dec. 17 with a small turnout. Winning hams or turkeys were Rita Smith (twice), Helen Sutherland, Audrey Duda, Lottie Petriew, Terry Kun, Jackie Meister (twice) and Eileen Petrun (twice).
