By Richard W. Hiebert, PhD North Battleford Centennial Historical Committee Ghislain Rene Joseph Bellavance was born late on Christmas Eve, 1935, to Joseph and Marie-Therese at North Battleford. He was raised on a farm near Paynton.

The Borden Friendship Club held a Christmas bingo on Dec. 17 with a small turnout. Winning hams or turkeys were Rita Smith (twice), Helen Sutherland, Audrey Duda, Lottie Petriew, Terry Kun, Jackie Meister (twice) and Eileen Petrun (twice).

All residents of Battlefords District Care Centre were blessed with an early Christmas gift Dec. 17 when 117 poinsettias were delivered to the long-term care facility - one poinsettia for each resident.
