What better way to celebrate the youth and rebirth of spring than with a Ukrainian final dance recital? The Hafford Cheremka Dance Club held its annual final dance recital April 12 in Hafford.

The Battlefords Art Club held a meeting at noon Tuesday to discuss the final plans and arrangements for the art exhibit and sale this weekend. There will be exhibits of art, quilts, wood carvings, pottery and photography.

We arrived home from Spain in early March, in time to see lots of winter. Here are two snaps of March - two extremes. Our trip to Spain was good. We enjoyed our trips to the village Mijas, to Malaga and down the coast to Fuenerogla.

Sigh.the weather. What can be said that hasn't been said for months already Unity Composite High School (UCHS) hosted Regional Drama Festival last weekend with much success.

Sympathy is extended to Mabel and Ryan Scoular on the passing of Mabel's brother, Dick Ryan, March 26 in Calgary, Alta. Dick was born on the farm near Baldwinton in 1934 and moved with the family to the Freemont District a few years later.

Augustine of Hippo once wrote, "The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page." For 15 students, 11 parents, and three chaperones from Unity Composite High School (UCHS), we've now read at least one chapter.

In the fall of 2010 when we were on tour in Eastern Canada and the United States, we stopped at Rita's Tea House in Big Pond, N.S., for afternoon tea.

Milt and Lil McMillan are pleased to announce they have a new great-grandson, Carter Milton McMillan. The proud parents are Dale and Gala McMillan. He is a little brother for Austin.

Mayfair Nashville Stars Night - what an enjoyable night of entertainment. Great work to all who organized and participated. Singing Merle Haggard was John Reddekopp. Rene L'Heureux did a great Dolly Parton but forgot her blonde wig.

The final bingo of the season was held April 12 at the seniors' centre by the handi van committee.
