Eightieth birthday greetings go out to Lorna Bater on her recent birthday in late March. The family held a small gathering at the Bater farm home, but due to old Mother Nature, it was a real tricky day weather wise with more snow and blowing snow.

April 18, I and many others at St. Vital School took a vow of silence for one day in order to raise awareness for children who are silenced in the world. Our silence was intended to be their voice.

Vida McDonald (Bennet) was born in 1903, the fourth child of seven, on a farm northwest of Carlyle, North West Territories (Saskatchewan). She received all of her schooling in the village of Carlyle.

In celebration of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, six students from North Battleford Comprehensive High School participated in a mock trial at the provincial court in Saskatoon Saturday.

April 1 cards were cancelled as a number of seniors attended the funeral of a former member, Mervin Burgess. Mervin passed away in Pine Island March 28 at the age of 87. Funeral service was held at the Maidstone United Church April 1.

Honoured Royal Lady Georgina Schneider welcomed 28 members of the St. Walburg Royal Purple to the April meeting. Members interested in attending the national convention July 13-18 at Grande Prairie, Alta.
