Nicer weather has made progress on repairing a water line break on the west end of town a little easier to deal with, than when it’s -30 C. The water was shut off from Sunday morning until Monday noon, so the guys did very well.

RABBIT LAKE — It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and sound like and feel like it as well! Several people in the village took advantage of those couple of nice days and have hung up all sorts of Christmas lights.

UNITY — “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go!” This familiar tune is holding true to all the activity taking place in Unity this December.

MEOTA — The Women’s Missionary Society of the United Church of Canada was dissolved the end of December 1961. Out of its ashes the United Church Women organization was developed.

Battlefords Art Club Artist Profile

Since its inception as a village on Aug. 27, 1905, North Battleford has been fortunate to have had 27 competent, fair-minded and hard-working mayors. Perhaps the most illustrious of these was John Gregory.

He’s a cast member of one of Canada’s most prestigious theatre companies and, although his immediate family no longer resides here, he still comes “home” to the Battlefords.

It's been 65 years since the North Battleford City Kinsmen Band came into official existence, although North Battleford has had a community band almost from its beginnings.

This year's NBCHS Winter Band Concert is Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria at the North Battleford Comprehensive High School.

In its report on the civic election of 1973, the North Battleford News-Optimist said: "A newcomer to North Battleford civic politics was given a solid vote of confidence in his bid at the city's chief magistrate position.
