Michael Brokop, who has curated the Chapel Gallery for the past six years, is retiring next week. For his retirement, the gallery will be hosting a "come and go tea" August 28 at 2:30 p.m. at the Chapel Gallery.

Two years of hard work,fundraising and loads of paperwork to do came to an end Aug. 12 when the United Church of Cut Knife dedicated their new addition and elevator to God with a church service and a scrumptious potluck lunch afterwards.

The fourth-annual day-long party at the Battleford Flats will take place from 9 a.m. to midnight August 25th.

National Culture Days have been discussed at different times with interested people taking part. This year's national Culture Days will take place Sept. 28 to 30.

Maidstone Museum members welcomed a bus tour group of 47 people Aug. 9. Members provided guided tours and a bountiful lunch was served. With the help of a few new younger members, numerous jobs have been accomplished.

I knew it was coming and I have been sort of avoiding the fact. No, I am not speaking of frost, but rather the first sighting of working combines.

The Radisson and district 97th annual fair was held Aug. 11 and 12 with two nice hot days for people to come out and enjoy the parade, musical jamboree, horse events, vintage tractor pull, pancake breakfast and ball tournament.

Several months ago, I had the pleasure of reading Kenneth William Budd's SummerWild, a slightly fictional memoir about his childhood at the lake - specifically Jackfish Lake.

It really is mid-August already. I just can't say I have had a summer go faster than this one but in spite of numerous weather warnings it has been fantastic weather for growing gardens, flowers and crops, as well as vacationing.

Art, art and more art - the summer is filled with activities for all types of artists. This past weekend, Aug. 10 - 12, the North Battleford Arts Club hosted a fun-filled three days of painting, sculpting and life drawing.
