As the SSAI convention is coming up soon and it's election time for at least the president's job, this may be the last chance I get to write this letter to you. So, I had better make it one that we can all enjoy and remember.

The North Batttleford Communities in Bloom committee is hosting a car boot sale Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot north of Milbanke Flowers. It was originally supposed to be held last weekend, but was postponed due to rain.

The Northwest Museum Association spring meeting was held at Meadow Lake Museum on May 4 with more than 40 members in attendance.

It's that time of year again when you can hear the whir of the golf carts, the thwack of the golf club and, once in a while; the yell of "fore." It's officially golf season. The Wilkie Golf Club is up and running for the season; doors opened May 10.

A former resident of North Battleford has won the 2013 YWCA Women of Distinction Education Award. The award was presented in Saskatoon May 24 toArlene Shiplett, who has been an active horn teacher and performer for almost 30 years.

A Grade 1 teacher at St. Mary School in North Battleford has been awarded the Master Teacher Award by the Saskatchewan Mathematics Teachers' Federation.

The Battlefords Photo Club held its monthly meeting May 7 at the Allen Sapp Gallery. The theme for the montly photo challenge was "a drop of water," with Adele Perrett's photo entitled "Deliciously Wet" winning the challenge.

The church building that stands at the corner of 13th Avenue and 102nd Street in North Battleford is 100 years old this year. It is now known as Third Avenue United Church, but in 1912, when construction began, there was no United Church of Canada.

The Dekker Centre, the exciting new Performing Arts Centre in North Battleford, was selected byRivers West District for Sport, Culture and Recreation, as the Recreation Facility of the Year.

Students from Battleford Central School's Me To We Club were out helping the Battleford 2000 and Historic Battleford Lions Clubs May 22 with the planting of another 1,000 trees on the site of the town's former dump.
