Young artists launch magazine

A week of activities has been organized leading up to the launch of Feed the Artist, the Battlefords first arts and culture magazine made by a group of young volunteers in the community.

Visitors from Quebec stop in

Bill and Danny McMurchie of Pointe Claire, Que. Stopped in for a visit with Eva Inkster. They were former Paynton people. Eva was happy to see them. Sam and Barb Kennedy and Scotty Kennedy from Lloydminster were Sunday visitors with Theresa Kennedy.

25th anniversary of centre celebrated

Bingo was played May 30 with Joan Smith and Denise Newton doing the calling. There was a good turnout. The loonie pot was divided between Bev Stewart and Noelle Coulthard. Lunch was provided by Norma Hougan assisted by Jean Stewart.

Heritage church has visitors

The Waseca Community Centre committee met at the community centre for their regular meeting June 6. Discussion of improvements needed at the centre took place. A new refrigerator has been installed recently.

Scooters available for use

The Maidstone Legion Ladies' Auxiliary met for the June meeting with six members present. There are scooters available and anyone interested in using one is invited to contact Trina at 893-4507 or Margaret MacEachern at 893-2379.

Butterflies brighten the landscape

The monarch butterflies are helping to beautify the landscape once again. They are always plentiful when the lilacs are in bloom, as they are now.
