The February St. Walburg Royal Purple meeting is considered Past Honored Royal Ladies Night, meaning the officer chairs are filled by PHR Ladies this evening, giving designated members the chance to refresh their duties.

I'm back from a month's holiday in Mesa, Ariz., a guest of Joan Smith and with a friend Margaret Huard. It was a most pleasant holiday and we did just so many things including a day trip to Mexico and an afternoon at Red Mountain, in the desert.

The Grade 7 and 8 class of Borden School held a dessert theatre in the Borden Community Centre, Feb. 14. Admission was by non-perishable items for the food bank or silver collection to help build a well in Ghana, Africa.

Happy New Year! What a winter this has turned out to be. Plenty of freezing temperatures, strong winds and abundance of snow has kept many of us appreciating the warmth indoors.

Eagle's Wing is the name of a professional singing and dance family from Fiji who now reside in Canada. Their music and dance is famous in the South Pacific.

Senator Herbert Sparrow was born on Jan. 4, 1930 to Abiah and Olive (Gramson) Sparrow on the family farm near Vanscoy. Even in his youth, it was evident Herb had a bent for business and entrepreneurship.

"It was quite amazing I didn't expect quite so much humour," said one of the handful of men who attended. "I enjoyed it. I found it quite moving in parts," said one of the mostly female audience members. "It was so much fun.
