The second recital in this season's Music for the Soul series will feature a performance by two outstanding pianists.

Step outside, and the biting chill in the air tells you that autumn is certainly here. We have had snow, rain, and all-around miserable weather through October, with forecasts not calling for a reprieve any time soon.

Volunteerism at its best was experienced in North Battleford this past weekend. From Oct. 12 to 14, volunteer firefighters congregated from all over the province to learn new skills and safety procedures.

Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation's Festival of Trees is approaching, with festivities planned from Friday, Nov. 30, to Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at the Gold Ridge Centre. Ladies' Night kicks off the three day event Nov.

October, the month that brings us fabulous skylines at sunset and sunrise, in addition to fantastic scenery as leaves shed and golden brown takes over our landscape.

By now everyone will have had their Thanksgiving and will have consumed at least one turkey over the holiday. Rabbit Lake had its annual harvest supper Oct. 6 at the community hall. About 300 people enjoyed a home-cooked meal and great fellowship.

The Sharon United Church hosts the Maymont fowl supper Oct. 21 at Maymont Central School. The Speers United Church's fowl supper is Oct. 23 and Sonningdale's Oct. 27.

Land on the northern shore of Jackfish Lake was like a magnet. There was good water, plentiful bush for lumber and firewood, rolling landscape for shelter.

Jay Beasse, a Unity resident, was visiting his property in Adanac as he has done many times. Only this time he was about to be part of a quest. He was unaware he would be part of a Saskatchewan adventure as he headed to Adanac.

If you enjoy potluck suppers, you had better move to Sonningdale. I've never been to so many. The last one I attended was on Sept. 30. It was the big birthday bash, where those from ages 80 down to 50 were celebrated. A good time was had by all.
