Margaret Helen Stewart-Beach (Robins): An extraordinary citizen

Margaret Beach was born on May 28, 1930 in her parents' home at 972 York Street (now 104th Street), North Battleford. This was the beginning of the Dirty Thirties, a time of terrible economic hardship.

The annual Maidstone Drop In Centre catered Christmas supper was held Dec. 9 with over 100 tickets sold, but due to sickness and bad weather, there was a few empty seats.

A surprise baby shower was held for Sherilyn Babineau Dec. 9 in North Battleford. Those in attendance were family and friends. She was surprised as she was told it was going to be a family supper for Christmas.

Dec. 8 found the Christmas activities of the area begin with the Minnehaha annual Christmas Concert. This year marked the 100th concert held in the former Minnehaha School that is now known as Minnehaha Co-op Hall.

Borden School Kindergarten to Grade 6 held their annual Christmas Concert Dec. 20 in the Borden Community Centre. The hall was full to watch the little ones sing and present a play.

We wish Milt McMillan, who is in the Maidstone Hospital a speedy recovery. Coffee at the Pine Island Suites was very much enjoyed. We played bingo for prizes all wrapped up in Christmas ribbons and bows.

Santa Claus dropped in at the Borden Co-op hardware after lunch Dec. 15 to talk to the children and have photos taken, while the staff served hot chocolate and Christmas baking.
