Spring marching forward

Sunday was a spring-like day with lots of sunshine, temperatures above zero, melting of the snow that fell the night before and the usual slush and mud underfoot.

This week the Maidstone High School basketball teams have been busy. The senior girls' basketball team will be hosting their annual basketball tournament. They played Paradise Hill and won their league.

The Old Mill Players cast and crew of Mayfair drama club performed Those Crazy Ladies in the House on the Corner Feb. 18 and 19 and Feb. 25 and 26 in the Mayfair Community Hall. This marked the 12th year of performances by the group.

Every day we see lots of different text on television, on computer monitors, on street signs, in newspapers and magazines, and in letters and papers at work or school. Even on our cell phones, we text and see full words or abbreviations of words.

Mme Blais' Grade 7 class and Mme Weber's Grade 6/7 class organized a Children Only Christmas Store prior to Christmas at Ecole Monseigneur Blaise Morand. The items sold were new or gently used items that were donated by parents and teachers.
