The Village of Paynton will be holdinga general election Oct. 24.Nominations are in and it will be interesting to see who gets elected this term. Paynton and District Fire Department has received new equipment.

The Legion Ladies Auxiliary No. 142 met for the first meeting after summer break Sept. 4. It was a quiet summer with not much activity. The group had to turn down some activities because of lack of help.

Centre activities have resumed
The regular activities for the Maidstone Drop In Centre have started for the fall season with 500 cards being played on Labour Day. High score went to Jean Stewart and low to Eva Inkster. There was a good turnout for bingo Sept.

Supported living facility houses 28 residents
The city's newest personal care home officially opened its doors on April 16th 2012, welcoming the first two residents, Rudy and Helen Blanchette. Now five months later, we have 28 residents, two cats, MiMac and Dusty and one dog, Lily.
