The "Reeves" is big - very big, in fact it tips the scaled at 23,000 pounds. It is over 10 feet tall - the rear wheels are seven and a half feet in diameter; its tread is two feet wide.

The Western Development Museum has decided to raffle off a stove I've fashioned from a 20-pound propane tank. I will share more information on this little wonder. All of the fittings are one-eighth of an inch thick rolled steel.

Harvest had a little setback last week with substantial rain Friday and Saturday. However, optimism is abounding that this will only be a temporary delay and full swing harvest operations will now be nearly uninterrupted for this season.

The American Library Association website says that September is library card sign-up month.

Swathing operations taking off

Even though we have had several heavy rain showers during the past week, swathing is going ahead in some places. Harvesting is not general as yet. The calendar does not say that we have entered the "fall" season but nature tells us differently.

Today I went to the cupboard and brought out the box marked "Phyllis Diller." Phyllis is gone and I want to refresh my memories of the times I became Phyllis Diller. My grandmother, Mary Keiper, started it all.
