As part of TD Canadian Children's Book Week, students at BATC schools from Ahtakakoop, Moosoomin, Red Pheasant, Saulteaux and Sweetgrass attended a reading by children's book author Vikki VanSickle.

Geraldine Fitzgibbon was born in Toronto on Oct. 31, 1854. Her parents were Agnes Dunbar Moodie and Charles Thomas Fitzgibbon. Even more interesting were who her grandparents were.

Borden Lions Report: Borden Lions are pleased to report that in our 31st year, our membership has increased to 18 members. We have had a successful year also in our catering, thanks to community support.

Eight members and two teacher supervisors from John Paul II's SADD group attended a national SADD conference in Edmonton, Alta. April 19. The group packed into a school van and were on the road before noon.

One of the most important people in anyone's life is due for recognition this weekend. I am talking about our moms. Do your best to recognize her in some way this Mother's Day.

Paynton volunteers, including the Paynton Farmers' Market and library ladies, were hard at work Tuesday making pizzas for fundraising.

Our travels started around 4 p.m. April 5 when we headed to Regina where we stayed with our friend, Doris. All the way there we heard bad weather was on its way but never got any. The next morning we awoke to snow falling but none on the ground.

The Maidstone School of Dance presentedtwo editions of The News! Saturday May 5. All of the girls' dances were set to a section of the newspaper - entertainment, sports, weather and so on.

After three days of dancing and over 100 individual dances, it was time to hand out awards.

Summer sports are well underway. A number of people from Waseca have joined with Maidstone to form a slo-pitch team, and others have joined to organize a ladies' fastball team.
